How to get a bucketful of blog traffic – tips from a ten year old

Today we have some great tips on how to attract traffic to your blog, courtesy of Louis from Blame the Blogger.

Louis is 10 and has already been blogging for 9 months.

He blogs about things in the world around us, from live blogs on football matches to celebrity birthdays.

Here are some top tips from Louis as to how you can increase the amount of traffic to your blog.

Louis says:

“My blog used to be a small site that my family and friends occasionally looked at, when I nagged them a bit too much, but since I discovered these brilliant ways to generate traffic, I’m getting daily hits, and there is no need for me to push people anymore!

Firstly, you have to think about what people are going to look up on the net. For example, they may look up – ‘phased out iphone 5’. If you try and look that up, you’ll find my post on blametheblogger on the first page or near the top of page 2!

How did I do that? Well, I can assure you that if you looked up ‘iphone 5’ it wouldn’t be in the top 100 pages! The thing is, because I thought people would look up ‘phased out iphone 5’, I took extra care to include that. I even put it in bold the text in bold, so it would show up for the Search Engines better. All those little things help.

You can also get traffic by going on other people’s blogs, and commenting normally but leave a link back to your blog, and people will come and find you and comment back!

So those are my top tips, but you have to keep experimenting! Maybe social media can work! If you’re too young, allow other people to share the link for you!

Anything is possible when you are blogging!”

I find an easy way to generate more traffic is to make an email subscription bar along with social icons. I have Facebook, pinterest, tumblr, Google+, RSS Feeds and twitter for my blog and much of my traffic comes from these sites. I have about 40 UVPD (Unique visitors per day) and 20 of these people come from social sites and 15 are subscribed by email.
