How to write great blog posts if you’re not a great writer

child-bloggerSometimes people get put off blogging because they think that you have to write very long posts, and that you must be an amazing writer who gets an A+ on every English class assignment.

Not so at all.

Here’s a secret:

You don’t have to be an amazing writer to write amazing blog posts

Writing anything is a skill, and nobody starts a skill at expert level.

Even the best bloggers didn’t start out freshly hatched as experts. If you read a blog that you enjoy, never forget that the blogger has probably put many, many hours into creating their blog as it is now.

But that doesn’t mean that new bloggers who are still developing their skills can’t still be great. Sometimes the best posts will come from the heart. Sometimes the best posts have very few, or no words – what about photo or video posts? It’s up to you how you express yourself.

As you grow your blog, your literacy skills will naturally increase. You will care about your posts and your readers, so you will try your best to create blog posts that are enjoyable to read. Or maybe just that you feel proud of writing. Without realising it, you can learn more about language and writing skills via blogging than you might do in class.

To make this happen, use the spellcheck on your computer – most systems will underline in red if they think you’ve spelt something wrong (they’re not always right, but it gives you a good indication).

Get someone to read your posts before you hit publish. Often we get so used to looking at what we’ve written that we can’t see stuff that’s obvious to a new eye.

Write lots and lots, and read much more than you write. The more you do this, the better you’ll get. You may never get an A+ in your English class. But an A+ in blogging? That’s yours for the taking.

With havin so much written content do you ever run into any
problems of plagorism or copyright infringement?
My website has a lot of unique content I’ve either
written myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over
the internet without my permission. Do you know any techniques to help stop content from being ripped off?
    I’d certainly appreciate it.
