10 topics for kids to blog about

the-times-children-bloggingLast week I went to see a new school with my daughter and the English teacher said You know, for creativity we like it if all the pupils keep their own blog. That’s something we know all about here on KidsBlogClub, and we’ve been promoting creativity through blogging for several years now.

It’s great to see so many schools around the world promoting blogging. Many of them use KBC as an educational resource and send their pupils here to read posts and leave comments or get inspired to start their own blog.

So if you or a kid you know is getting into blogging, here are some blog prompts to get you started. If you’re not sure what to post about, these topics might inspire you.

Just remember never to post something mean or that you wouldn’t say to somebody’s face. Don’t give away your identity by saying where you live or showing your school logo. Only post pictures where you have the permission of everyone shown in the picture (or their parents).

So here are 10 topics that kids might like to write a bog post about:

  1. What was the last great book you read?
What book did you enjoy so much you just have to share it
  2. Video games for beginners
What games are you playing right now? How would you explain PC and video games to somebody who doesn’t like them?
  3. If I could change one thing about the world I would….
Go on, be king or queen of the world and shake things up a little
  4. Your best recipe – what can you cook?
Recipes can be harder than they look to write because you have to explain each step really well – it’s like telling a story, or solving a problem
  5. Your favourite holiday memories
What can you remember doing on holiday that you really enjoyed? When did you have the most fun?
  6. Write a poem
Anything you like, rhyming or not, just have fun with it
  7. Dear Alien…
How do we explain this crazy world to someone who’s just landed from outer space? What do they need to know?
  8. A picture post
A simple photo can really tell a story all by itself. Plus it’s useful when you don’t feel like writing much.
  9. Your top 3 outdoor activities
What do you like to do for fun when the wifi’s down?
  10. My perfect day
What would a perfect day look like to you? Where would you go, what would you do, what would you eat, who would you be with?

Leave a link below if you write a post based on any of these blog prompts
