Bloggers seem to be split when it comes to the topic of the summer holidays. Some see it as a chance to create lots of great posts, since you’ve got more time and less commitments. You might be going on holiday, doing new activities or taking day trips – all great stuff to take photos and write or vlog about it.

However, other bloggers prefer to use the summer holidays as a chance to go on holiday from their blog as well.

So how do you handle your blog in the summer months? Do you post less or more often?

If you’re going away but you still want there to be something new for your blog readers to enjoy, perhaps you could invite somebody to write a guest post. Or you could swap guest posts with another blogger, where you each write a post for each other.

The main thing to remember is that it’s your blog, your rules. If you decide to take an extended break, then that’s fine, just as it’s equally fine if you decide to post every day. Yes your regular readers may miss you if you’re not there but it’s not like they’re in charge of your time. It’s still your life and your blog.

Blogging is a skill, and the more you do it the better you will get at it. But it’s also fun. It’s not meant to be hard work, unless you choose to make it your job. If it stops being fun you will probably want to stop blogging anyway.

If you do take a break from blogging, perhaps you could use the time to focus on bigger projects

• You could launch your own Youtube channel – could you be the next Stampylongnose or Zoella?
• Read some really long books. this will help you be come a better writer just as much as writing would. Maybe you’ll go on to write your own book, like Siddharth did.
• You could create some stop motion animation. This takes time and patience but is really fun to do. Make your own mini Lego movie.
