Lomography Baby Fish Eye Camera

Our last Christmas gift guide gathered some of the cool new gadgets and tech toys that people aged 8-16 might enjoy.

And there are so many ace cameras and accessories around for Christmas 2013, we thought it was worth dedicating a gift guide just to them.

So which camera will capture your eye this Christmas?

If you’re looking for a basic digital camera for taking still and moving photos, you’ll be spoilt for choice. We like the Nikon COOLPIX and the Fujifilm FinePix as they are both pretty reliable camera brands.

Or if you want cute, retro and cool, check out this Baby Fisheye Camera from Lomography. Currently priced around £35, it includes a 170-degree fisheye lens, flex lens cap and strap, multiple expose switch for double-exposed images, bulb setting for long exposure shots and instruction manual.

Maybe one for the fashion bloggers?

Also from Lomography (and recently featured on The Gadget Show), how about a camera you have to build yourself?

The Konstruktor DIY Build Your Own 35mm SLR Camera (£25) takes one or two hours to build, and then you can use it to take pictures with film. Imagine the satisfaction of knowing that not only did you take the photos, you actually built the camera too? That’s pretty cool.

Now, we’ve often said that a phone is probably good enough quality to take pictures for your blog and you don’t actually need a fancy camera at all if you’ve got a camera phone. So how about a gadget that will help you make the most of your iPhone’s camera?

Enter the Olloclip, a special camera lens for iPhones and iPods. We’ve been trying this out at KBC towers and we LOVE it, it’s one of our most favourite ever gadgets.

The Olloclip is super easy to use – you just slide the lens on to your phone, point and shoot. And with three lenses to choose from you can take Macro (extreme close up) Panoramic, or Fish Eye-style shots. This video shows you what it can do:

Perhaps you’re a vlogger who wants to find new ways of making movies of your own?

Red-I Micro Camera

Did you know that you can get a micro-camcorder that will fit on your bike or scooter? Think of the fun you could have with that – you could be out and about recording your adventures as you play. You can also attach this camera to your clothing, when you’re on a spying mission.

The Red-i Micro Camcorder from Zinc Sports, priced around £30, includes an internal microphone and will record up to 120 minutes. It’s a much better and safer way to capture moving footage than on your phone

For younger children, the Playskool Showcam is a 2-in-1 digital camera and projector with simple controls, big buttons and kid-sized hand grips. It offers more than 50 silly effects to customize your pictures: silly stamps and sounds, instant short stories and fun animations. It stores up to 1000 photos and offers built-in editing capability.

Or perhaps you want to get into stop-frame animation and making your own animated films?HUE animation camera

Hue Animation Studio contains everything a budding animator needs to begin creating stop motion animation videos.  The easy-to-use animation software comes with a Plug ‘n’ Play HD camera with built-in microphone and a unique flexible neck for unlimited positioning options.
