Oscar and Lex are two brothers about to embark on a trip with their parents round Central America – and they’ve started to blog about it at The Blogging Brothers.
Oscar is six and Lex is nine, making them possibly the world’s youngest travel bloggers.
We caught up with them before they set off to find out about their travel and blogging plans.
They both love traveling to new places and reading the Silversea Cruise Blog about the significance or the specialty of the place they are visiting. The bothers share an interest in exploring new cultures and always make it a point to spend their vacation in a new destination.
Tell us about your trip – what countries are you going to? What happens to school when you’re away?
O -We are going to Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Belize, and Mexico. We are doing lots of different things on the trip. The first week we are staying with a host family while we go to school everyday to learn Spanish. I hope to try out fishing. I have always wanted to try this. I want to catch something for tea. We are also working on a farm for a week in Costa Rica.
L – I am looking forward to horse riding, snorkelling, taking photos of the rainforest for my class who will be studying the rainforest from books while we visit real ones! I’m a bit nervous about all the volcanoes we will be visiting. School are happy for us to go as the trip is very educational. Mum used to be a teacher and has lots of work prepared for us.
Why did you decide to start a blog about your trip?
L – It’s a great way to look back on what we did. We’ll be writing paper diaries every day and then put the best bits into a blog.
O- I want to become famous!
What sort of things will you be blogging about?
L- The things that we are interested in – not mum!
O- Our next post is about taking the first malaria tablets! We will write about the activities that we do, like volcano climbing!
How will you blog when you’re travelling? What computer do you use and what will you do if there’s no wifi?
L- We are using dad’s new iPad but we’re not really used to it yet. As for wifi, some places don’t even have electricity so we will blog when we can.
How does it work when you blog with your brother? Do you write posts separately or together?
L – There will be so much to write about I think we will do it separately. I am more interested in giving information about animals, reviews of accommodation and activities.
O- I am interested in different food and the people.
What do you want to be when you grow up? Could you see yourselves as travel bloggers or journalists one day?
O – I want to be a pilot. I want to travel and it will be cheaper. I also want to be a TV presenter because I’m a bit mad.
L – I want to be an Olympic fencer and write fantasy books to earn money. We are writing this in a hotel room to practice with the iPad before we leave for a fencing competition.
Thanks to Oscar and Lex. And their mum who did the typing.
